 Dr. Michael Roh, a valued member of South Coast Retina Center since 2006, is a distinguished ophthalmologist with an extensive background. Graduating with Cum Laude honors from Duke University, majoring in Biology and minoring in East Asian Studies, he received the prestigious Sirena WuDunn Memorial Scholarship for academic excellence and contributions to the Asian Pacific Studies Institute.   

His commitment to excellence continued as Dr. Roh earned his medical degree with Honors from the Ohio State University College of Medicine. Ranking in the top 10th percentile of his class in both GPA and USMLE Board scores, he completed a preliminary internal medicine year at Evanston Northwestern Hospital and pursued ophthalmology residency at George Washington University, serving as Chief Resident.

Dr. Roh's dedication to advancing the field is evident in his published work and international presentations during residency. He further honed his skills with fellowship training in vitreo-retinal surgery in Birmingham, Alabama, and completed research fellowships sponsored by the Helen Keller Foundation for Research and Education and the American Society of Ocular Trauma.

In addition to lecturing in China as a Helen Keller Foundation representative, Dr. Roh has volunteered his surgical expertise in Honduras. From 2010 to 2013, he served as Vice-Chairman and then Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Roh is an active member of prestigious medical associations, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retina Specialists. His dedication to patient care and ongoing contributions to the field underscore his role as a prominent figure in ophthalmology
